This policy explains how Olive Knives LLC, 41 Copple Crown Road, New Durham, NH 03855, USA ("we", "us") collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit oliveknives.com, buy from us or contact us.

1. Information we collect

  • Information you give us: name, email, phone number, shipping and billing address, order details, messages you send us, reviews and photos you submit, and warranty or service requests.
  • Payment information: processed by Shopify Payments, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay or Shop Pay. We do not store full card numbers.
  • Information collected automatically: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, links clicked, referring site, approximate location, and cookie or pixel identifiers.
  • From partners: if you verify military or first-responder status through GovX, we receive confirmation of eligibility, not your documents.

2. How we use it

  • To process orders, ship products, and handle returns, warranty claims and service requests
  • To communicate with you about your order and respond to questions
  • To send marketing emails and, if you opt in, text messages
  • To confirm age requirements for knife purchases where required
  • To show you ads on other sites and measure how our ads perform
  • To improve our website, prevent fraud and comply with the law

3. Who we share it with

We share personal information with service providers that help us run our business, under contracts that limit their use of it:

  • Shopify (store platform, checkout and payments)
  • Klaviyo (email and SMS marketing)
  • Judge.me (product reviews)
  • Triple Whale and Google Analytics (analytics and ad measurement)
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google Ads and Pinterest (advertising)
  • GovX (military and first-responder verification)
  • GeoJS (looks up your approximate country and US state from your IP address to show an age check where required)
  • Shipping carriers (UPS, USPS, DHL) and brand partners who ship your order directly (Black Beard Fire Starters, NESTOUT)

When we use advertising pixels from Meta, Google and Pinterest, they receive information about your activity on our site to show you relevant ads. Under some state laws this counts as "sharing" or "selling" for targeted advertising. You can opt out (section 5). We do not sell your personal information for money.

We may also disclose information to comply with the law, protect our rights, or as part of a merger or sale of our business.

4. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for the store to work (such as your cart), for analytics, and for advertising. You can manage your choices through our cookie banner where shown, our "Your privacy choices" page, and your browser settings. Our site honors the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as an opt-out of targeted advertising. Our site does not respond to other "Do Not Track" signals.

5. Your choices and rights

  • Email: click "unsubscribe" in any marketing email.
  • Text messages: reply STOP to any message.
  • Targeted advertising: use the "Your privacy choices" link in our footer, enable GPC in your browser, or email us.
  • Access, correction and deletion: you may ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to receive a copy of it. Email hello@oliveknives.com. We will verify your request and respond within 45 days. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

6. Text messages (SMS)

If you sign up for texts, you agree to receive recurring automated marketing messages from Olive Knives at the number you provide. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. We do not share your mobile number or SMS consent with third parties for their own marketing.

7. Data retention and security

We keep personal information as long as needed for the purposes above, including order, tax and warranty records, and then delete or anonymize it. We use reasonable safeguards, but no system is completely secure.

8. Children

Our site and products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and you must be 18 or older to buy from us. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International visitors

We are based in the United States and your information is processed in the United States.

10. Changes

We may update this policy and will change the effective date above when we do.
